Afternoon Tea at Céleste / The Lanesborough London

London….

ENGLISH

London …. I LOVE LONDON … And a regular tradition every time I’m in London with my beloved mom, is Afternoon Tea. Since we’re often in London, we have tried quite a few variants of the classic English Afternoon Tea – some better than others;) When we visited London last weekend – actually exactly last Saturday – I had booked Afternoon Tea at the Céleste Michelin-starred restaurant, which – very convenient for us – is located at the hotel we also stayed at (The Lanesborough) – but of course open to all. The restaurant (and hotel) is right next to Hyde Park, and therefore I suggest that you first go for a walk in the beautiful park and make room for all the delicious food that is served.

At the moment, besides the classic Afternoon Tea, the particularly beautiful Alexander Hamilton Afternoon Tea is served to celebrate the well-known musical “Hamilton”, which is played at the Victoria Palace Theater just around the corner from the restaurant. It’s a very beautiful version of the classic Afternoon Tea – especially the cakes are small pieces of art, and are all inspired by the main characters of the musical – created by Céleste’s Head Pastry Chef, Gabriel Le Quang. The small cakes are: Exotic Lace Cupcake, Blackberry Cheesecake, Grapefruit Religieuse, Pecan pie and a Caribs Chocolate Star. Sounds good, right? It’s for sure good;) In addition to the delicious cakes, hot scones are served with clotted cream and strawberry jam and a selection of classic finger sandwiches. All of course, accompanied by a very extensive selection of different teas. Everything is served the classic way on trays, but are you more hungry – then they just fill up the beautiful trays. It’s no shame to ask for more;)

If you want to top your Afternoon tea – as we did – then I would suggest ordering with a glass of champagne. The price is 39 GBP and 49 GBP with champagne.
